The Millennium star diamond is owned by DE Beers. At 203.04 carats (40.609)g, it is the second largest known Top Color grade "D", internally and externally flawless, pear -shaped diamond.

The diamond was discovered in the Mbuji - Mayi district of  Zair 1990 in Alluvial deposits,uncut, it was 777 carats (155.4g). It was pursed during civil war by DE-Beers in early to mid-nineties.

It took over three years for workers of the STEINMETZ DIAMOND GROUP to produce the classic pear form. Actual cutting was done using lasers. It was first displayed in October as the centerpiece of the De Beers Millennium diamond collection.

The diamond was presented to the world with great theater during an impressive ceremony at the top floor of the CSO's charter house street complex in London. It also consisted 11 extremely rare blue diamond,cut in a variety of shapes and having  a total weight of 118 carats.

The Millennium diamond collection was undoubtedly the world rarest and perhaps the most valuable set of diamonds ever put together, to mark the dawn of the new millennium, the year  2000.

The Millennium star diamond was part of the splendor of diamond Exhibition at the Smithsonian
Museum in Washington DC over the summer of 2003.Other diamond in the Exhibition were the Allnatt, the Pumpkin, the Steinmetz Pink, the ocean dream, the half of eternity,and the Moussaieff Red.
